Association:

This new concept of Satsang began in the 1970's as people gathered spontaneously around the teaching and guidance of Sister Ishpriya. To those who wished to make a personal commitment to live and to promote the Satsang ideals - Sr. Ishpriya proposed a Triple Commitment. From 1984 the movement gave rise to the Satsang Association composed of members all of who have taken the Triple Commitment:

Satsang-members make a serious commitment to:

  • their personal growth in spiritual awareness and practice

  • helping remove the barriers of prejudice and ignorance which divide persons from each other

  • building up relationships of compassion and appreciation across frontiers of race, language, culture and religion.

In 1991 the I.S.A. became a registered Charitable Trust. Satsang members recognise the barriers which are at the heart of many of today's social evils, barriers which create fear and suspicion and thus keep people in conflict. In small, often unnoticed, yet significant ways they are working to transform fear into respect and understanding - wherever they live and work.
